Nordic and Baltic Farmers Call for Real Simplification in Upcoming EU Omnibus Packages
12.12.2025
Nordic and Baltic Farmers and Forest Owners Organizations have jointly urged the European Commission to ensure that the upcoming simplification “omnibus packages” deliver real, farm-level simplification, legal certainty and better regulation for agriculture and forestry. In a letter to several Commissioners and Vice-Presidents, the organizations stress that EU farmers need less administrative burden, more predictability and strengthened competitiveness to meet climate and production goals.
Giving full support to the detailed simplification proposals submitted earlier by Copa-Cogeca and highlighting several priority areas.
Highlighting the urgent need for simplification/evaluation measures for:
-
Plant protection products (PPP): faster approvals, mutual recognition and precision technologies
-
The Nature Restoration Regulation
-
The Habitats Directive
-
Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs) and feed security
-
Nitrates Directive (Council Directive 91/676/EEC)
-
Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) implementation
-
Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) implementation
-
Carbon Removal and Carbon Farming Certification (CRCF)
The organizations reaffirm their commitment to EU climate and biodiversity goals but stress that this requires clear, proportional and predictable EU rules. Calling on the European Commission to ensure that the omnibus initiatives genuinely improve daily life for farmers and forest owners across Europe.
